The concept is simple, a photograph a day for an entire year. Why? I see this as a way to work on my photography, tell my story in a creative way, and keep my sanity with something that'll be constant and unchanging for 2012.

I'll be posting "sparks" at the beginning of each month which will be categories of photo taking, or aspects of photo taking that I can work on; things that'll spark ideas for each month's photography.

So here it is, photography in my life, of my life, about my life. Enjoy! <3

[31/366]

Day 31: A photograph describing the biggest lesson you've learned in your lifetime.

"I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so you can learn to let go, things go wrong so you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you can eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together."
-Marilyn Monroe

Yeah, it's a little on the cliche side of a quote-posted-on-myspace-by-every-teenage-girl. But it's true. I do believe that everything happens for a reason. And now that I've come to terms with that, life is really fantastic. (:

Day 30: A photograph and a letter.

Dear fellow Utah Ambassadors of Music-
IMISSYOUGUYS! Europe was so fun and I miss performing and spending every second of every waking day with you. Who's up for round two? (:

The top photo was taken of a little group of us in Switzerland. The bottom photo was taken at a get together some of us had when we got back from the trip.

My most recent check mark came from when Joe took me to go see the lights on Temple Square on the first of January and he surprised me with a carriage ride. What a sweetheart.

Day 28: A photo of something that always makes you smile.

This kid makes me smile. He's such a great friend. One of my very best friends senior year of high school. I'll never forget him and I still love him to death, even though we live far away and don't see each other often. Love you, Lukey.

Day 27: A photograph of somewhere you'd love to travel.

Anywhere, everywhere, just somewhere.. Honestly, I want to spend the rest of my life traveling. I'm just in a bad mood. So I'm not as excited about this as I usually am.. I can't wait until this bloody month is over. I want to post photos of the way I see every day life, not just stupid factual photos of the person I am. I know no one really cares anyway. I want to show you guys my photography. Blahhhhh.

We'll just say this, I want to go somewhere where I can help people. Somewhere I can change lives and really make a difference. That's where I want to go..

Day 26: A photograph of something you love.

These guys. I know that they'll always be there for me. Because honestly, they've got no choice! (; Sometimes animals are nicer that humans because they aren't selfish, or whiny, or rude, or annoying. Animals are loving. Sometimes, I prefer animals much more than humans....

I love my dog, Squattie.
I love my rabbit, Niggy.

Day 24: A photograph of something you wish you were better at.

Playing rugby! I'm on the women's team at Utah State and I loveeeeeeeee it. This is a photo of my team when we played in Montana. I've only been playing for a semester, so I'm definitely looking forward to this semester. I'm hoping it will bring more experience, hard work, sweat and blood, lessons learned, playing time and friendships. I love rugby and I'm so glad I have the opportunity to play with some amazing ladies.

[23/366]

Day 23: A photograph of something you wish you could forget.

This isn't really something I familiarize myself with... I make mistakes, I do things that I shouldn't and I mess up, a lot. But I don't regret the things I do, ever. I learn from my mistakes and move on. I don't dwell on them, and they always make me a stronger person. So today was really hard to think of something to post. But I think I got it.

I wish I could "forget" being sick. Because I get sick a lot; like a lot more than a normal person gets sick. It always seems like I'm going through a different illness..... But I guess it's just something I have to go through..... I do believe it has helped me learn and grow though. From it, I think I've become more compassionate; and become more of a fighter. Come what may. (:

Day 22: A photograph of something you're afraid of.

Marriage. Terrifies. Me.

But really. I can honestly say this is my worst fear. Giving my heart, soul, and body to someone that I'm so incredibly in love with, and having a possibility that they could walk away at any second.......

Day 21: A photograph of something that means a lot to you.

My friendship with my best friend, Shelby Tucker, means a lot to me. (: We are so alike it's ridiculous. I'm so glad she moved to Bountiful my junior year of high school, because she was just what I needed.

This girl is my support. She's always there for me when I need her and I hope she knows that I will always be there for her. We have the craziest times, and the most chill times. But whatever we do, we always have a good time. I love her to death and back and I'll punch you in the stomach if you try to get in between her and I. My best friend is better than yooooooouuuuuuuuuuuu!

I love you, Chelb!

Random side note: This was last 4th of July, I don't always dress in red, white and blue.... Haha. And I miss that white cardigan soooo much! Stupid people that broke into my car and stole all my clothes..... ):

Day 20: A photo of something you wish you could change.

Being away from these ladies. We kind of all went our different ways after high school and I miss them all very much. From left to right, top to bottom;

Andrea Jackson. This girl has never failed to be there for me, and I hope she knows I'm always there for her. We've had some crazy times and we've grown up a lot together. I love you, boo!

Cynthia Sharma. This girl understands me more than most. She's crazy and I love it! We've only known each other for a couple years, but it feels like a lifetime. I love you, Cympia!

Maryjane Linnell. This girl has been my friend even through my awkward, emo stage, which means a whole lot. She's great and I hope to always have her in my life! I love you, Mare!

Laura Peters. This girl is my twin. We really got to know each other senior year of high school while we were both officers. She is incredibly hardworking and her testimony is amazing. I love you, L2!

Well, this past year I moved up Logan, Utah and started attending Utah State University, which has made a giant impact in my life! A lot has changed, but I know this is definitely where I'm supposed to be. I love USU! GO AGGIES! <3

Day 16: A photograph that makes you smile.

Joe and I took this photo this weekend while I was spending some time down south. We were trying to take a decent photo of us being all cutesy, and of course, I laughed right as the flash went off. But we got this and it turned out better than I thought it would.. Honestly, I could just post a photo of this boy, because he makes me smile. (:

Day 15: A photograph of your favorite book.

The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. (: I've always love this book. As a child, it was my favorite to read and I still enjoy it very much. It's about a tree that gives all she has to a boy and is happy.

Now that I think about it, this could be one of the many reasons I want to spend the rest of my life in a career serving people. I guess I learned at a young age that one of the best ways to find happiness is through serving others.. (:

Day 14: A photograph of your favorite band or artist.

Pff. Really? That's like asking me to fit a camel through the eye of a needle. GOOD LUCK! I don't pick favorites. My range of music is way too broad.....

So, I used my indecisiveness as an opportunity to actually take a photo today! (Instead of finding the best photos to describe my life on the appropriate days..) I took this photo today even though I clearly did not get ready to show you all the necklace I'm wearing. My sister Jenni gave it to me for Christmas and it fits quite nicely into today's description. It's a treble clef with the words 'I LOVE MUSIC' above it. I loveeeeeee it, but above that, I love music. (: Really and truly. When words fail, music speaks..

Day 12: A photograph of someone who inspires you.

Jesus Christ. I can feel his love for me in my every day life. I'm far from perfect, but he inspires me to be a better person. I would be someone in a gutter with half of a mind if it weren't for his perfect example in my life.

Day 11: A photograph of someone you miss.

I was an officer my senior year of high school and I really miss the other officers. Pathetic? Maybe..... But I spent so much time with them. So now it's just weird that I never really see any of them anymore. I loved them like a family and will always see them as so.

Day 10: A photograph of someone you could never imagine your life without.

My roommates. From left to right, top to bottom: Lizz Anderson, Moi, Rachel Jensen, Shanna Cappel, Kelsie Christensen, and Sarah Naylor. We took this photograph, along with many others, for our "Family Christmas Card" and sent them to our parents back home. I am so lucky to have these ladies in my life. And living with them is always an adventure. Love you guyssssss!

[9/366]

Day 9: A photo of the person you do the most messed up things with.

Zoe Fairbairn, eh? This lovely lady is the Canadian version of me. And I the whatever-I-am version of her. We make up two halves of a whole. We are the same person. It's creepy.... We're always catching each other saying the same thing, thinking the same thoughts and doing the same actions. So that's messed up right? The fact that I'm inside her beautiful mind and that she's in mine? I'd say that's incredibly "messed up." We took this photo at the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus concert in October, but secretly I wish we had taken photos of the stuff we do on Monday nights.... HA!

Day 8: A photograph of you and the person who has gotten you through the most.

Joseph Ammon Maloy. (: Where do I even start with this boy? He is my best friend and the love of my life. I don't know where I'd be without him. He is the most supportive, kind, interesting, fantastic, humorous, loyal and loving person I've ever met. We've been through so much and he's never, ever let me down. And I am so blessed to have him. He's thrown my life into a whirlwind and I wouldn't have it any other way. This photo was taken in the Butchart Gardens in Canada where we visited last Spring. This photo makes me genuinely happy, just like he does.... (:

Part time lover, full time friend. I love you, Joey. <3

[7/366]

Day 7: A photo of you and the person you've been closest with the longest.

My parents. Obviously I've been closest with them the longest. I popped out of her womb, and he was right there with her. But it's much more than that. I'm close with them because I choose to be, not just because I have to be. My parents are my biggest supporters and closest friends. I can tell them anything, and I think that's really special. Most 30 year olds don't have as good of a relationship with their parents as I do with mine, and I'm only 19. I'm very blessed to have them in my life and I love them very much.

I picked this photo because I'm trying to post all recent photographs, and this was taken the day before New Year's when we went to Temple Square as a fam. But also because I can laugh at myself and I think this photo is hilarious. It's my "mid-sentence" look.

Day 6: A photograph of your favorite night.

I didn't even have to think twice about this one. This past summer I went to the Taking Back Sunday concert with my friends Olivia and Joe. This is one of my all time favorite bands, and I went with two of my all time best friends. Hands down, the best concert EVER. (And that's saying something, because I am a concert junkie.) I got close to some pretty cool people, reeaaally close. I mean, we shared sweat because we were so close.... One of the best stage performances I've ever seen. Fantastic atmosphere at one of my favorite concert venues. And if that wasn't enough, I almost died. Like really.... I was at the front gate for the entire time that TBS was playing, and I guess passed out. I remember the security guard lifting me out of the crowd and in front of the stage, then I remember being at the medical station. It was very bizarre, but definitely made the night more memorable. Also, while I was at the med station backstage, Adam Lazarra come back there and I probably passed out again.... Which brings me to my last case in point. Adam Lazarra, future husband. Say it with me, boys and girls. (: I know some of you might have noticed his wedding ring in the photo below..... But that is a mere bump in the road. We definitely fell in love this night. I mean, we made eye contact at least 7 times! And look at the photo! He purposely posed just for me, I know it. Anyway, he's my future husband and he'll come back for me when he's done touring...

Random after thought: And thanks to Mac for pointing out that my head looks really big in this photo...

Day 5: A photograph of your favorite day.

The entire Homecoming Week of my senior year of high school rolled into a ball would be classified as my favorite "day." (It's my blog, I can do whatever I want.) I was an officer and it was so much fun being involved. I worked my butt off for the entire week and it really paid off. Some highlights were sleeping on the football field with the other officers, painting the football field, the football game and going to the dance with my best friend Luke. But on top of all that, I got elected Homecoming Queen and got to be royalty with some pretty amazing people, including Johnny, the Homecoming King. I'm not one of those girls who are stuck in high school at all. But this is definitely a memory I'll never forget. (:

[4/366]

Day 4: A photograph of your favorite memory.
(There's no way I can put just one photograph for today. So bear with me on this one....)

The memories of my trip to Europe occupy my mind constantly, and I cherish them dearly. Those three weeks are the highlight of my life, and I'm hoping a preview to my travels. I was able to live in a different culture, see incredible sights, explore and learn about people and places I've only dreamed of, feed my passion for traveling and musically perform in a way that broke barriers.

I was selected as a Utah Ambassador of Music and got the honor to represent little ol' Utah in England, France, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Italy and Germany. I was part of a choir and it taught me how to be part of something much bigger than myself. We touched hearts of people we couldn't actually talk to. And in turn my heart was very much touched. I will never forget this trip, it changed my life.

Of course I went wild with my camera, and it was extremely hard to narrow down which photos I wanted to post for today. So I just picked one or two from each country. I tried to pick ones that spoke volumes of the countries they were taken in. Enjoy!

#1. This photograph was taken in London, England, which was one of my favorite cities of the trip. We spent 4 days relentlessly touring and exploring the city and didn't even scratch the surface. I'd love to go back and explore some more, and plan on doing so when I'm a little older. It was an absolutely fantastic place that had men with beautiful accents, amazing architectural buildings, and a wonderful culture filled with fashion. This particular photo is of the Big Ben, the London Eye, and their surroundings. Oh how I miss this city.

#2. This photograph was taken in Paris, France, at the Louve. This was one of the coolest parts of the trip. I love art and it's history and this museum was life changing. I have to go back there. HAVE TO. We only got 2 hours to explore, which really isn't enough time. But I did see the pieces I wanted to see, and was overly satisfied with my trip to this museum. This particular photo is of the Venus De Milo statue. My camera died right after I took this and I didn't get many more, or else I would have put one up of a piece I admire more.

#3. This photograph was also taken in Paris, France of the Eiffel Tower. The morning we visited the Eiffel Tower it was raining. Everyone saw this as a disappointment, but I thought it was stunningly beautiful in the rain. Quite romantic. Plus it wasn't hot as we ran up the steps of the tower! We had very little time at this stop, so some friends and I literally ran up the steps. We got up to the first level with no problem, and quickly began to run up the stairs to the second level. This is where the calves started burning and the lungs started pumping. We got to the second level and the only way to the top from there is an elevator. The line for the elevator was way too long. And we knew we wouldn't make it. So we spent time taking fun photos and walking around. This was a way cool experience, but I definitely would like to go back and make it to the top. Another downside I noticed was that when you looked out over the city, there was a thin cloud that made it difficult to see very far. But that's okay..... Just another reason to go back! (: I took this photo in the bus after we had climbed back down.

#4. This photograph was taken in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. As we arrived to this beautiful town, the rain was slowly turning to a drizzle. As a result, the view from our hotel window was this photo. It was really nice to take a break from the big cities we had become accustomed to and really breathe in the beauty of the country side.

#5. This photograph was taken in Vaduz, Liechtenstein. This country is really interestingbecause it's the 4th smallest country in the world. It is only 61 square miles, and get this, would fit into the state of Utah about 1400 times! We only stopped in this country for about an hour, but I ate by far my favorite meal here, and we saw a lot of really cool castles on the cliff sides. (As you can see in this photo.) Obviously this photo wasn't taken by me, because I'm in it..... But the only other photo I have from Liechtenstein is of some weird horse statues and I thought this one would give you a better view of the interesting country.

#6. This photograph was taken in Innsbruck, Austria in the Wilten Basilica. We went into and performed in many cathedrals that are known throughout the world for their beauty. Although they were all impressive, the Wilten Basilica was by far my favorite building we saw on the entire trip. This building is a Rococo styled cathedral, unlike the Gothic styled cathedrals that were so popularly built around Europe. This style uses whites, pinks, and golds to decorate instead of dark colors and stained glass. It was absolutely fantastic. Truly awe-inspiring and breathtaking....

#7. This photograph was taken in Venice, Italy. I've always dreamed of going to Venice, and it was everything I expected. It's an amazing city, and one of my favorites from the trip. It still fascinates me to no end. You can be walking down a narrow alley, and the next turn is the city center, and then the next turn is a bridge over a canal. It is so incredibly interesting and beautiful in it's own way. This photo was one of the many canals that we passed. Ahhhh. I want to go back. We only took a day trip to Italy and I did not get my fill of this city.

#8. This photograph was also taken in Venice, Italy. This is the St. Mark's Cathedral. So remarkable.... We had the incredible honor of performing in this building. If you think the outside is impressive, you should see the inside. The entire ceiling is lined with tiny little pieces of gold. Wow.

#9. This photograph was taken just outside of Munich, Germany at Dachau. Dachau was a concentration camp during the Holocaust and visiting it was a very surreal experience. It was amazing to see how "survival," which is what Hitler promise those who followed him, pushed those who weren't targeted by the Nazis to simply look away from the mass extermination that was happening on their own soil. I've done a lot of research on the Holocaust and it still fascinates me. I think it's sickening, but also so peculiar. I could go on for hours about that... Anyway, this photo was the gate to one of the monuments that were built for the Jewish people who perished at Dachau.

#10. This photograph was also taken right outside of Munich, Germany at Dachau. It is a giant memorial for those who perished at Dachau. The numbers read 1933-1945, which were the years of WWII, and in which the Holocaust took place. And again, I obviously didn't take this photo since I'm in it....

And there you have it. My favorite memory was my trip to Europe last summer. And even though it appears I just poured my heart out to you, I barely scratched the surface. Haha.

Day 3: A photograph of yourself and your family.

This is my crazy, insane, funny, beautiful, silly, fantastic, loud and loving family. The best friends I have.
From top to bottom, left to right; Bella (Sarah's daughter), Me, Ben (Libby's husband), Libby, Jake, Daddy, Sarah, Mama, Jenni, Hunter (Sarah's son), and Sam (Sarah's son). The only one missing is Jimmy (Sarah's husband) because he was at work. We took this photo last week when we went to Temple Square to see the lights. So I thought it would be appropriate to post today.

[Family; like branches on a tree, we all grow in different directions, yet our roots remain as one.]

Day 2: A photo of yourself as a child.

First thought: Look at me. I was so high fashion as a youngen. I have a super sleek bob hair cut, a vintage tee, white pants BEFORE labor day, and some stylin' sandals. And that pose? I was a born model. Why didn't I ever pursue that? *Sigh*

Second thought: For today's post, I had to look on my mother's computer for a photograph from back in the day. I was amazed to see the shortage of photos of me. All my sisters and my brother all have quite a plethora. I mean, there are like two photos of me as a baby. Then it skips to kindergarten. So naturally I thought, "Am I adopted?" That is the fam's favorite joke. But what if their joking is just bracing me for a day when they break the news to me...? I have olive skin and green eyes, unlike my freckled-skin, blue-eyed siblings. All of my siblings are super athletic, and although I do play sports, I'm way better with artsy and creative outlets. I'm the last kid in my family. Maybe my parents couldn't have any more and decided to adopt... It makes sense, right? I guess we'll see. I'll keep you posted. (;

PROJECT 366.

2012. Happy New Year! This past year has been fantastic. I've grown up some more and learned a lot about myself. I graduated from Bountiful High School, and I started college at Utah State University. I also traveled Europe during the summer. I had ups and downs, but who doesn't? Now that it's over, I'm sad to see it go. But I'm ready for what this year brings. Out with the old. In with the new.

With that said; out with my old blog that I posted on a grand total of one time, and in with this, PROJECT 366. A photograph a day for an entire year. I'm excited for this opportunity to work on my photography, tell my story in a creative way, and keep my sanity with something that'll be constant and unchanging this year. So, here we go! I'll be posting "sparks" at the beginning of each month which will be categories of photo taking, or aspects or photo taking that I can work on; things that'll spark ideas for each month's photography. If any of you would love to join me in my endeavor, just ask! (:

Buckle your seat belts, and prepare yourself. This, is my blog. <3
